Health care is the second-largest industry in Singapore, accounting for around 60% of the countrys GDP, with a total of $20 trillion in revenue.
But the industry faces a steep decline in the past few years due to the rise in infections.
And with the number of cases of COVID-19 steadily rising, a new trend is emerging in the healthcare sector: the online education.
The sector is being increasingly seen as a way for students to get a deeper understanding of the healthcare system, as well as a better understanding of what it takes to care for patients.
Students are now being taught how to manage COVID patients and how to assess patients’ symptoms and physical signs, and are also learning about the medical system.
To help students, the Department of Health recently launched a new online education service that offers students a virtual medical course in the country’s first-ever online healthcare training centre.
In a statement, the department said that the centre will help students gain the necessary skills to take the next step in their careers.
It said that students will be able to complete the training in under two hours, and will have access to a range of healthcare-related information.
Teachers will also have the opportunity to attend workshops and seminars to train the students in the use of digital tools to support healthcare workers.
“This will allow us to provide the best education for our students to help them take a step forward in their career,” Dr Aneesh, the head of the Department for Health, said in the statement.

Healthcare is becoming a critical industry for Singapore, with an estimated $20 billion in revenue and about 10 million employees, according to the Department.
