An online education company based in San Francisco has announced a $250k prize for the best online college education.
The prize, which will be handed out in 2019, is being awarded to a university that provides the highest quality online education.
“We’ve been working hard to build a community of learners and instructors in the 21st century, and we’re excited to have our first award of this kind,” Beth Kopp, the company’s CEO, said in a statement.
“With the right team and resources, we can ensure that we can offer students access to a world-class online learning environment, including an abundance of courses and coursework, at affordable rates.”
The company will be awarding the prize to three universities, with the winning university receiving $100,000.
The company also plans to offer a $1,000,000 scholarship for graduates of the winner university.
“We are excited to partner with Poliquin, the world’s leading online education provider, to launch our next initiative: a $25,000 award to the university that delivers the best education in the world,” Kopp said.
The prize comes after Poliquins first online course, Instructional Learning, won the $250m prize at the 2015 WSJ Innovation Conference.
Poliquinas new course is Institute of Applied Science (IOS), which will take a different approach to learning, offering courses that will take place in a fully interactive environment.”IOS will teach you how to be a good developer, how to apply knowledge to problems, and how to manage your time efficiently,” Poliquin told Mashable.
“The goal is to bring the world of technology together, and our vision is to create an environment where everyone can be a developer, a developer who knows how to use technology and understand how to get it done.”
The university will also receive $100k, as well as $10,000 for the first four years of a Poliquini’s first course.
The university, which also offers online programs, has been in business since 2014.
Polissin currently has more than 300,000 students enrolled.
The college offers online courses at universities in 15 countries, including Australia, China, Denmark, India, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The companies cofounder Julia Kopp is also the cofounder of Crown Business.
According to Poliquín, its goal is not only to make learning more affordable, but also to increase the quality of learning in an educational environment.
The company says it is also aiming to increase its students’ productivity and focus, and provide them with the tools they need to build successful careers in tech.
In the past year, Poliquinis curriculum has been expanded, with classes in physics, mathematics, business, and technology taught by the world-renowned professor and author of “How to Build a Great Company.”
The company’s first online degree program, a master’s in business and finance, is currently available to students.
