Google Apps are a great alternative to the standard cloud-based online course provider, but they can be a pain to setup and use.

What is Google Apps?
Google Apps is a cloud-powered online learning program that offers a complete suite of courses on the Web.
Google Doc offers the same features as Google Apps, but the company has added more than 40 new features that are new to the app.
Google also added a lot of new features for students, too.
The new features include: A Google Doc for students section.
Students can easily create, manage, and view Google Doc courses, as well as collaborate on course content with other students.
A Google Drive for students.
Students and instructors can share and edit Google Doc and Google Drive courses together in one place.
Students have access to more than 250 videos and audio files, plus links to additional materials.

You can view and add videos, audio, and images from any of your Google Drive files.
Google Photos for students and teachers.
Students upload photos and audio directly to Google Photos, which you can then view, edit, and share.
The photos and videos can be shared directly with other Google Apps users and teachers, and the students can use Google Photos to mark images as favorites.
You also have the option to create a Google Doc Calendar, which can include up to five videos.
You get to keep all of your edits and uploads, as long as you have an active Google Doc account.

Students also get to create Google Drive groups and share them with teachers and students.
You’ll need to create your group and create an email address for your students, but you’ll also get access to a Google Calendar, a Google Groups feature, and a Google Drive sync feature that lets you transfer your Google Doc files to your Google drive.
You create a group with a group invite code and create a shared Google Doc with a password that is unique to your group.
Students get to add as many teachers as they want to your school.
For students with no teachers in their Google Drive group, you can invite the teachers and use them to create videos, create links to your videos, and more.
Teachers can also add their own teachers.

Students with Google Doc accounts can receive email notifications from the group when their videos, files, and photos are uploaded to Google Drive.
The notifications are sent to your inbox, so you can read them immediately.
Students that are not in a group can create a new email to the group at any time.
Google says the notifications will only be sent once a day, and only if a student creates an email that is more than a day old.
Students are also able to view the notification and reply in real time.
The notification can be saved for later.
Google has also added the ability to create virtual private networks (VPNs) that let students connect to the Google Cloud and access their course materials in the cloud.
You will also get a reminder when a student has submitted their course for approval.
Google is also adding new features to help students keep track of their course progress.
For instance, you will get an email when a user uploads a new course to the cloud, so they can start from scratch if they’re not sure where to start.
And if a user makes a mistake while trying to upload a course, they can view the course in Google Drive and reply to it directly.
Google now lets students create a note when they make a mistake and a way to save it for later reference.
