How to learn how to code offline
The internet is a wonderful place to learn, but it can also be dangerous.
That’s the conclusion of a new study, which examined how a person can learn online and then actually learn.
The study, entitled The online learning effect, was conducted by researchers at the University of Texas at Austin, and they examined whether people who were taught to code online, and then did, were better able to learn the fundamentals of computer programming than those who were not.
The researchers also found that people who did learn online were more likely to continue learning.

“We found that a student who learned to code by reading books was significantly better able than a student learning by watching a video to learn to code in the classroom,” Zvi said.

Zvi says that the data is promising, but more research is needed to explore how the online education effect impacts people in real life.
The authors also found an association between a higher level of motivation and learning, and it is a bit of a paradox.
They found that while people who scored high on motivation were more successful at learning, those who scored low on motivation tended to be less successful.
Zvi says these results indicate that people’s motivation to learn online, regardless of the content of the course, could have an impact on their success in the field.
“Online learning does not necessarily increase your skills or improve your skillsets, but rather it may increase the motivation you have to learn,” Zavi said.
